I was born in Thailand. My father
is Laotian and my mother is Thai, and I often refer to myself
jokingly as a Laosy-Thai. Most of my early childhood years
were spent with my family living in Laos. My father was a
military figure fighting against the communists and much of
our early years found us moving from place to place and often
hiding from the communists. At the conclusion of the Vietnam
War, it was no longer safe to stay in Laos so my family was
forced to move back to Thailand, and there lived in a refugee
camp for 3 years before being sponsored by a church in Elgin
Il, for immigration as political refugees. In 1978, at the age
of 13, my family consisting of my mom and dad and 6 siblings,
was fortunate enough to call Elgin Il home for 5 years. When
my father heard from a Laotian friend living in Florida, my
father traveled from Illinois for a visit to see his friend.
He liked Florida so well that he never returned to Illinois.
My father discovered that in Florida there would never be snow
and the weather was a close approximation to our home country
weather, and as so many people from the north decide to do, he
quickly moved the family south to Florida.
The family settled in St. Petersburg. Where my mother and
father quickly found work and many other displaced families
living under similar circumstances to our own. The constant
uncertainty of our early years in Asia somewhat wreaked havoc
on my early education. Of course none of us spoke any English
when we arrived from Thailand and my first official formal
schooling was a 6th grade classroom in Elgin. I, am proud to
say that I learned English and went on to graduate from
Northeast High School in St. Petersburg in 1986. I worked at
various jobs and continued to help my family raising my 5
younger brothers and sisters until moving to Vero Beach in
1990 to be closer to my fiancé. I enrolled at Indian River
Community college and graduated with an associate of art
degree in 1993. My now husband and I spent approximately the
next 2 years saving and planning for a wedding.
Frank and I have been married since 1995 and now have 2
beautiful children. Lindsay is 8 years old and attends 3rd
grade at Rosewood Magnet school near our home. She enjoys
gymnastics and singing and dancing. Her brother Wesley is 7
years old and attends first grade at Rosewood magnet school.
Wesley loves soccer and is a beginning karate student. We are
a member of First United Methodist church where we were
married.
My husband Frank E. Alexander Jr. owns and operates an
Allstate Insurance agency here in Vero Beach in the Miracle
Mile Plaza. My husband and I have worked side by side together
for 15 years in the insurance business and I am also a
licensed insurance agent. We have built the insurance agency
largely through referrals and word of mouth. After 15 years of
working together we have decided to diversify and I am now
pursuing a new career as a realtor in Vero Beach Florida. It has been a life long
dream of mind to become a realtor, however, Frank and I still
consult often with each other about our various industries and
gain valuable insight that we both find beneficial about the
other’s industry.
My goal as a Vero Beach Realtor is to ensure that I help my clients gain
the maximum advantage in their transaction, whether they are
buying a house or selling a house. I want my clients'
experience to be hassle free. I want to be their eyes and
ears, and a person that they can lean on and trust. My goal is
to exceed my client’s expectation of what a realtor can do for
them.
Thank you for your time in getting to know me. If I can help
you in anyway, or if you know of someone buying or selling
a home or property that could use my help, please give them my name which is
commonly misspelled as "Amy Alexander", but is actually "Amie
Alexander". The best
compliment I can get is you sending a referral.
God bless…..
